On booting, my friend's green iMac comes up with the message "unable to prepare code fragment", then reboots, back to the same message, never gets further.
What's that supposed to mean? Earlier I thought it was suffering from humidity, it worked before it was unused and off for some weeks in our extremely humid (97% sometimes) environment. Then it just failed with 4 beeps (indicating bad ROM). So we gave it a few weeks in airconditioning, gets a bit further, but it still hasn't recovered. I plan to disassemble, remove the CPU and RAM, wipe dry, pray, reassemble. Any better ideas/clues? -- The iMac List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
