Hello. The software that came with my firewire Sony CD-R/RW didn't seem to work. Several of you replied to my post, telling me that the packaged software doesn't always work, and to go buy Toast. I went to CompUSA Sunday afternoon to do so. Perhaps because of the 10.2 roll-out, a factory-authorized rep was there. He suggested I upgrade to 9.2.2 (I was on 9.1) and that I should be able to burn CD's without additional software. I upgraded to 9.2.1, then 9.2.2. This did add the "burn CD" option under "Special" but it was unselectable. When I put a blank CD in the CD-R/RW drive, its icon appeared on my desktop. Then I dragged the contents of a folder onto the CD-R icon, just as the rep had explained. When I double-clicked the icon, it opened that folder and I was able to then click the "burn CD" option. After just a moment, a dialogue box told me that "the burn operation could not be completed because the devise is not supported."
I've hunted around Apple's and Sony's sites. What do I need to get this going? Thanks, Claire -- The iMac List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
