Jasmine,

I have read a number of posts on "www.xlr8yourmac.com/" in the comments for
IDE harddrives, in which some have successfully used 100MB, 7200rpm, drives
inside the slot loading iMacs. Haven't seem one regarding a 120 though. No
one has ever experienced a heading problem, nor a formatting problem with
the 100s. Earlier iMacs, or earlier OS's, had limits with the number of HD
bytes that could be recognized, but these limits appear to have gone away
with OS 9.1 and the slot loading iMacs.

I can't say for certain, but I don't believe that you will have any trouble.

I would call a vender, like OWC, and ask if there are any issues with their
120GB drives.

Can my little 500 mhz indigo iMac handle a 120 gig hard drive at 7200
rpm?

I mean I know it can fit but it can't be as simple as installing it and
suddenly having 120 gigs at my disposal.

And occasionally I see little caveats saying that iMacs cannot handle
7200 rpms. Bu I think that is for Rev A-D. right?

I finally figured out what currently is my obscure no-name hard drive.

For those who don't know how, do this: System Profile, then write down
the serial number of your hard drive, then search for that number on the
internet. But I have a feeling you all know that already.

Oh well, not bad for a dancer! ;-)
