Welcome to the Mac community, Mary!

It's easy to tell what version of the system you are running. There is
a little Apple Menu in the top left corner of your screen. The first
item there is "About This Mac." When you select that you will get
information about what OS version you are running.

Probably not. I don't know when you bought your machine but if it was
on or after July 17th, and it turns out that you DON'T have OS X 10.2
either already on the machine or on the CDs that came with it, just
give Apple a call and they will send you a free copy.

As for where the drive is, try pressing the key on your keyboard that
is the uppermost, farthest-right key (just above the * sign) on your
keyboard. Surprise!

Sound thinking.

I know this sounds biased, but TRUST ME you made a smart decision
between that and the eMac!

Hear, hear!!

No, that's not true. Your eMac has limited upgrade options, but it's
not impossible to upgrade. The two main things you can upgrade (aside
from the software of course) is the RAM (memory) and the ability to use
an Airport card (probably not something you need).

The "Help" menus on your machine can be a good place to get started
learning about your new machine, and we're always here to help with any
questions you might have. Sometimes this list gets a bit technical, but
please don't ever worry about asking anything "too basic" -- most of us
are here mainly because we ENJOY helping people get more out of their
machines, regardless of what they do with them.

You might try purchasing "The Little iMac Book" by Robin Williams (who
is a woman, not the famous comedian) for more info about your machine.
Yes, I know it's an eMac not an iMac but apart from the shape and the
screen the two machines are virtually identical so the book is almost
entirely relevant. Of course if someone's written an eMac-specific
book, please let us both know!
