I have a 500 mhz slot loading iMac with 640 mb RAM and am running OS
X.1.5.

After numerous crashes and force quits and constant spinning beach ball
thingy, I finally decided to re-initialize the drive upon the advice of
several members from this list and Applecare.

I was advised that if the re-initialization was successful, that the
hard drive was okay.
However, things are not okay. I am still getting multiple crashes on
various software - including Appleworks and mail. It is extremely
frustrating. I called Apple back and they are insisting it is a
software issue since the drive initialized okay. The only software I
installed after wiping the drive was the 3 restore disks and the Sims
game.

Is Applecare correct in saying it is a software issue if the
re-initialization procedure is successful ?
