Whenever you're installing new system software, you should *ALWAYS* *ALWAYS* *ALWAYS* back up your computer. Preferably in full. If that's not practical, at least those items (documents you've created, email, account #s, etc.) which are not readily available on CD (like your typical application program). BACK UP! Sorry for the shouting, but this can't be stressed enough, and I know too many people who don't, and have suffered. 2. I don't recall all the specifics of your problem (although I think we didn't know the specifics of the problem). However, if you've had serious trouble in an effort to upgrade, and you haven't backed up those important docs, boot from any appropriate system disk and do so. Run Disk First Aid, Norton, or whatever other disk utility you prefer after that. Make sure the HD is in good shape. 3. If you're intent on resetting to an earlier OS, boot from the appropriate installer CD. At this point, it becomes largely a question of what you're trying to save. At the most basic, just use the installer, and perform a "Clean Install." This should rid your Mac of the already installed system files and replace them with the older system. You'll then have to install all of your additional extensions, etc., particularly those from 3rd party apps. If you've got more detail on what precisely went wrong and what the problem is with the upgrade, we might be able to help more precisely.
