Apple did not buy the stock back. Microsoft sold it because a) they made a TREMENDOUS profit on it (bought it at $13 IIRC, sold it at various points ranging from $100 to $42) and b) because they never intended it to be a long-term investment. > I'm curious as to why they didn't keep it.
