Don't bother, I can answer this. If you are looking directly at the BACK of the G4 iMac, the right-most USB port is a "shared" port (the modem is also on that port -- don't ask me why). It is my understanding that this USB plug is on it's own bus (since it's really running two devices). The other two USB ports on the back of the machine are your other primary ports, and they are together on the other bus. The final two USB ports are of course on your keyboard -- one of which is permanently occupied by the mouse. _Chas_ Come to ...
