Hi, I give up. Just sent the following email to earthlink: "the numbers you suggest are long distance for me i keep getting: "connection terminated because other side is not responding" nothing you've suggested has helped--including the 46 steps provided for OS 9, which is not even my OS everything was fine with my old, discontinued number: 253-414-1035 the only local numbers i have NOW are: 253-617-0020 & 590-4492 neither of them works, as i continue to get the "connection terminated because other side is not responding" message

Any page that takes any time at all to load fails to load completely and then i get the dreaded "connection terminated because other side is not responding" message. I have to get this fixed because surfing the web is no longer even the least bit enjoyable. Should I take my imac in to see if the modem is defective? Please don't suggest that I bring another computer to this location to see if IT works OK, as that is not practical for me and so won't be happening.
