Welcome to the list! I'm sorry I have to greet you with (probable) bad news -- there are several things that MIGHT be causing that but all the causes I can think of are more expensive to repair than replacing your iMac with one from ebay. Specifically, you either have a flyback problem (it's going) or a video board problem (it's going). Either way, you're not going to be able to fix this yourself and it is bound to cost several hundred dollars to fix. I would IMMEDIATELY make a full backup of the hard drive if I were you, and then send it in for an estimate. I'd also start searching ebay for a replacement. _Chas_ Come to ...
