You might want to take a stab at Ragtime (free for personal use IIRC) or Mac Publisher Pro (about $50 I think from your local CompUSA or Apple Retail store). There isn't a lot of low-end publishing software for the mac because we don't "do" low-end publishing (a la MS Publisher, a program whose source code I'd dearly love to set fire to). Thanks to the PDF capabilities of OS X, you can actually use MS Word or AppleWorks to come up with something not TOO horrible that people can actually read from one computer to another. The other alternatives are very expensive -- Pagemaker is around $600, InDesign (excellent) around $700, and Quark (which is yet to produce an OS X version) around $800. _Chas_ "Executives in the PC business use the word "sexy", in such a way that I'm always surprised to discover that their children aren't adopted. The Mac interface is not "sexy", and it would be grotesque to want it to be. It is, in fact, playful, often well over the line into frivolity. The bouncing icons (and the puffs of smoke and the pipe-organ speech synthesizer and the way dialogs tidily resize and the drop-shadows on the windows and the jellybean buttons and the eject key on the keyboard) are not individually rationalizable on utilitarian grounds, and they do not pretend they mean to be. They are there to, in aggregate, change the nature of your relationship with the device. They are joyful, and they hope their joy is infectious." -- Glenn McDonald -- The iMac List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
