Go for it!  I am unaware of any serious upgrade problems except on the
tray-load Rev. A-D iMacs and the 8 gig rule and firmware updates on the
older models.  If you've already backed everything up, then you have nothing
to fear on your FP iMac.  I happen to have one of the older Rev. D iMacs,
and once I resolved the 8 gig problem, Jag installed without any problems,
and all the updates to 10.2.4 have gone without a hitch.
