there's no telling if it's a factory install or not. my general line (and what I do with all of the dozens of machines in my care...) is to just do an Upgrade over the existing OS and see what happens. very rarely does the Jag (or any other) update cause any problems. if there are any problems, Jag has an 'archive and install' option that's akin to OS 9's 'Clean Install', so I try that. i only resort to wipe-and-install if upgrading and archive-and-install both fail. there's no need to unduly inconvenience yourself when there's a rather very slim chance of having any problems in the first place. -- The iMac List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
