I bought a used Key Lime iBook on ebay and called Apple and found out
that it was still within its first year of retail sale. It was sold as
after the iceBooks were introduced and was no doubt old on the shelf at
the time the original buyer bought it from an Apple certified retailer.
Apple sold me AppleCare via the phone with the only requirement being
the serial number to track in their records.
