Pros: Large screen estate: 1440*900 is a lot wider than my 1280*1024 at work, which means that I can handle way larger spreadsheets on this one. The same goes for other applications too of course. Reasonable sound out of the box. Stable if using OSX: I am only booting for OS updates. Great to have a burner for sharing updates with my sister who is on an ordinary modem and I am on ADSL. Hardware screen magnification is great for showing clips on the internet that won't go bigger than a stamp. Great to have a desktop that I can use as a server for my web-experiments as it is always online, unlike my iBook that I carry around. Plays games great, especially if you come from an older Mac with less horsepowers, both video card and CPU matter a lot here. The screen is a beauty, btw, like the rest of the iMac. Cons: I can't answer this e-mail from my bed using it, which I do with my old iBook SE instead, and I cannot use it while lying on my couch, except by using VNC or Timbuktu on the iBook, but then I still wouldn't have the screen - did I mention how large that is ;-) Like all OSX-machines, it eats RAM for breakfast: Don't settle with 256 MB, max it out if possible, although I probably could be doing better if I quit applications and reboot once in a while ;-) I don't know what you are coming from, but if you have a reasonable new desktop (iMac or whatever) and no laptop, I would advice you to consider a laptop instead. Surfing in the bed really rocks a lot more than looking at a large screen. I rather watch DVD's in bed on the smaller 12" screen, than sit on a chair in front of my iMac. The small Powerbook is the best deal, as far as I am concerned, but YMMV. But if you need a desktop, you won't regret buying the 17" !
