I checked, and that preference *is* set.  Oddly enough, with
the hideous HP CP1160, it *did* just show up.  Apparently printer
goodness is a conserved quantity on OS X and since the Photo 820
prints reliably and well, it has to fail remotely.  I guess it's
no worse than when I was running OS 9 where my Samsung laser
printer refused to work with USB printer sharing . . . . except
I can't use that printer anymore because instead of printing at
15 pages per minute, under OS X it prints at 15 minutes per page.
