I'd like to purchase a Mac/PC cross-platform-compatible (with software for

Have been looking seriously at Canon LiDE 30, but find myself concerned that
every review I read says something along the lines of "slow. Slow. Oh yes,
Slow. And did I forget to mention, SLOW!!!?!?!"

I'm really only looking for something I can use to spearhead a home
geneaology project and would like to spend $150 or less.
Slow is a user definition. I use an LIDE Canon for everyday use, in an environment where I probably do not generate more than 10-12 scans a day. It's a great unit. No external power source needed. Works with everything we have here from Mac's to pee cees, and it's reasonably priced.

When I see a review about "Slow", I always wonder what the reviewer's speed definition is? It's certainly the speed equal of the HP scanner we replaced.
