I'm using 5.0.5 in OS X, and haven't had any problems with opening
files. The only issues I've had are in printing--I'll occasionally get
post script errors in printing larger files especially to my older
laserwriter.

Had the same problems with Acrobat Reader 4 under OS 8. I've had better
success in printing problem files by sending a page at a time, or using
Preview.
