The only consideration is to remember the your Summer 2000 iMac has no cooling fan. The new HD wants to be thermally friendly. Some of the faster HD's generate a lot of heat. Look for a replacement HD with comparable thermal characteristics to the OEM HD. (Most manufacturers have thermal operating temperatures on their web sites)
