Hi I am in need of a lot more hard drive space and I am considering purchasing an external hard drive (firewire). How does an external drive work? Can you run applications through it, install software, on one? I run a server and I am wondering if it is possible to place the server application on the external drive with all of the enormous files that are on it and let people access my files? Do they work the same as internal drives? Any feedback would be helpful thanks.
