Trust me, you're missing out. But hey, everybody comes to enlightenment
by a different path, yours may take longer. Go when you are
comfortable. :)

Yes. Sort of their way of encouraging you to upgrade. Clever, eh?

If you will update your earlier version to version 6.1, you will find
that the virex definitions for 7 also work with 6.1. Problem solved.

Everything prior to 6.1, yes.

Yes, but keep in mind two things:

1. Virex 7 will protect your mac only while you are in OS X. IOW, it no
longer protects them when you are booted in 9. For that, you need Virex
6.1.

2. Virus protection on the Mac is barely needed at all, at least at the
present time. There are no known viruses for OS X, and few (almost no
active ones) for OS 9. Obviously you run whatever level of VP you are
comfortable with, but before I got V7 for free I ran for nearly a
decade without virus protection without incident. Other anecdotal
evidence seems to suggest that viruses are a true rarity on the Mac.
