From: Terry & Claire Hart <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>I'm not seeing this error code on ANY of my Apple dev stuff, so I assume it must be a Postscript error.
Hello. I've sent this request to HP and to a PageMaker list I just joined.
I thought someone here might know the answer to this. I'm working with
PageMaker 5, an HP LaserJet 1200 series, my iMac DV 400 with 5 GB available
on a 10 GB HD and the 1 GB RAM kit installed.
My problem stems from having to have an 85 linescreen for camera-ready copy
to take to the web press printer. I get one error after another trying to
send to that laser printer. The latest one is -2550. I've checked with
several printer sites to see what -2550 means, but the HP codes are only in
the double digits. So I thought this might be an Apple code rather than an
HP code.
Not strictly the solution to the problem, but if I were you I'd give serious thought to updating the PM to 6.52 or maybe dumping it altogether for InDesign, which reads PM files beautifully and hasn't given me a lick of trouble. Works in OS X as well!
The reason why I did this is because some of my pages to beSome of your pages are *20 MEG*? I think I see the problem(s):
printed were 20+ megs (20000 K, right?) in size. Maybe I don't understand
the memory thing here.
1. Your printer itself probably doesn't have enough RAM to deal with this. See workaround below.
2. You're embedding images unnecessarily, which is bloating the page size. Change your preferences to LINK rather than embed, images. Always.
If anyone is producing camera-ready print for a small newspaper with their
iMac and some laser printer, would you contact me for moral support, please?
In the past when I've had this problem, changing the delivery from "Binary" to "ASCII" seemed to do the trick. And of course increasing the RAM in the printer, if possible, is never a bad idea.
You might also experiment and see if you can make PDFs of these documents, and if so see if they will print correctly.
