Hello. I've sent this request to HP and to a PageMaker list I just joined. I thought someone here might know the answer to this. I'm working with PageMaker 5, an HP LaserJet 1200 series, my iMac DV 400 with 5 GB available on a 10 GB HD and the 1 GB RAM kit installed.
My problem stems from having to have an 85 linescreen for camera-ready copy to take to the web press printer. I get one error after another trying to send to that laser printer. The latest one is -2550. I've checked with several printer sites to see what -2550 means, but the HP codes are only in the double digits. So I thought this might be an Apple code rather than an HP code. I was getting some "not enough memory" prompts. One prompt even asked if I wanted it to temporarily give it more memory. I chose yes but it didn't ever print anything. Later I upped the memory (through Get Info) from 250 K to 100000 K. The reason why I did this is because some of my pages to be printed were 20+ megs (20000 K, right?) in size. Maybe I don't understand the memory thing here. If anyone is producing camera-ready print for a small newspaper with their iMac and some laser printer, would you contact me for moral support, please?
