Hi Jim I followed this thread with interest, good to hear you fixed it, all by yourself, good job! May I suggest you take it to a friend with an iMac (Classic and FP) and test it there aswell. And perhaps you can take it to work aswell to test it on several Macs. Ans what about the Apple Stores over there, are you allowed to 'play' with them, I mean can you see them in working order? Perhaps you could test your enclosure there aswell. > So, as of today it looks like I've got a working external firewire HD. > It will take a LOT of repeated use before I lose the pangs of anxiety > when I plug it in, Not that I have any experience with those troubles, but I know the feeling... > If you've got one of these exploding ME-910U2F's on your hands, and you > can't or don't want to return it to the vendor (maybe you got it from > eBay?), then the 25V capacitor is the one you want. Perhaps you could start buying the exploded enclosures on eBay, fix 'em and sell them on eBay again? Just a thought. Marc * * -- The iMac List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
