In my experience, it works better to suck hot air out than to try to push 
cool air in. I'd get a 12-volt cooling fan and an AC adapter (powering a 
fan off USB makes more work for the iMac's power supply, which means more 
heat) from Radio Shack or Best Buy, and stick it on top, blowing out. 
Works good on my old Mac Plus (which has similar heat problems). You may 
want to tape off the top air holes not covered by the fan, so more air 
gets pulled in through the bottom.
