Unplug video connector.
Plug in standard Mac monitor.
Start it up.
If it boots and you see a desktop, replace the AV board. This is the board on the left side of the machine.
If it doesn't boot, check the voltages on the power supply.
There's a company in Eugene, OR called MicroDoc that repairs them (the boards) for about $130. I've had good experiences with their repairs.

Yesterday, I left it on for a few hours, while doing odds and ends, and came back to a dead machine. Now, if I leave it off for an hour of so and turn it back on, I get the start up chimes, the screen stays black for about 5 seconds, then the power button goes from green to yellow and it dies. If I try to start it again, I have to wait a while to get any response at all to pressing the power button, but I can never get beyound the start up chime.
Any suggestions where to start: is my power supply bad, my monitor dead, Pram bad??? I really didn't want to buy a new computer for a few months, but I don't want to spend a lot to experiment on it either.
I mostly use this machine to surf the internet, and scan and print photos.
