Yes, CTRL has always been the same on both machines (modern PCs/Macs 386/68030 onwards) while the ALT has had the position of the Command (Apple) key with a gap inbetween the two.

Then "they" added the Windoze key inbetween the two...

My mistake - I thought Ctrl and Alt used to be next to each other. Well it is only 8:17am :D.
