and teh windows key does become the apple key
i tried it with my now dead imac last year
and replaced that godawfull keyboard with a usb keyboard of my packard bell
worked just fine

Something that you do have to watch is the Cmd (Windows on a PC) and Option (Alt on a PC) are the opposite way around on Apple keyboards to the standard arrangement found on PC keyboards so if you switch yourself or someone else from one type to the other you might need time to acclimatise.
