So, how do I go about connecting to a different monitor?

All I can tell you is what I've retained from other people talking about this on the list, as I have never done this myself.

"To connect an external monitor to the (Bondi) iMac, you can connect it to the port that is located on the bottom side from the computer (after you remove the bottom cover -- the one you remove to remove the motherboard). This port is a DB-15 Apple style and the internal monitor is connected there."

"You can hook up an older Apple monitor directly or any VGA monitor with an
adapter. (You'll need an adapter with a male DB15 end (15 pins in two rows) and a female HD15 end (15 pins in three rows, like a PC VGA)."

As I understand it, if you connect to a functional external monitor and find that it doesn't work, that means that your problem is (likely) a defective PAV board. If the external works, then your display problem on the internal monitor is caused by something else.

Hope I've got this info right, and that somebody will set me straight if I don't.

Mary
