OK, my in-laws original 233Mhz imac has been declared dead (see previous posts) I simply an unable to get it running again, and the cost of taking it to an Authorised Apple Motherboard Replacement shop far exceeds it's value.

So, they need a new machine. I have looked at the two low-end eMacs and the low-end iMac.

My concern with the lowest end eMac is the fact that it has a CD-ROM drive and that its video is only 1280x960. Certainly even the lowest eMac would meet their needs (hey, they were using a 233Mhz iMac for years).

So, I am leaning to the $999 eMac to get the DVD/CD-RW Combo Drive.

Does anyone have any comments? Recommendations? Am I missing anything about the eMac that might be an issue?
