The eMac here is quieter than the 233 Bondi iMac (that the original poster
is replacing); however, the optical drive in it (I think it's just CD-RW, no
DVD) is very noisy when spinning at full speed (40x IIRC). I don't have
experience with other iMacs / eMacs so I can't offer any more opinion about
the noise.
