I believe my account must be up for renewal sometime in September. What
are the chances that Apple would offer an incentive any time soon?

Slim to none. Thousands of accounts have ALREADY come up for renewal (all the "early adopters" like myself) and there's been no offer.

However, I notice that Apple is giving a $20 rebate (of sorts -- read on for more info) to everyone who renews. I don't know how long that's been there.

The $20 "rebate" comes in the form of a $20 gift card to the Apple Store, and applies to purchases over $20.

It does indeed take a little of the "sting" out.

 Maybe
if people let their accounts lapse, AFTER the fact there might be an
offer made to purchase Jaguar at a discount?

You mean Panther. I doubt it.
