I never had a problem with my Epson 740... until it died.

Regardless of the brand of printer, though, I suggest Googling "cheap ink cartridges." There are plenty of vendors selling generic cartridges & toners for a fraction of the HP, Epson, Canon, etc. prices. I've never had a quality problem with the generics, but maybe I've been lucky.

Everyone who responded to my questioned mentioned the cheap ink you can buy via the internet.

I recently bought a black cartridge on line and had some trouble with it (jets plugging).

Also, I recently read an online article saying that the main problem with the cheap ink is that it fades quickly (estimated from 1-2 years), whereas most major ink brands last 25-90 years.

Thanks,

Dale
(P.S., any thoughts on the quality of photographs printed on the epson 740 vs. the HP 3420?)
