So with my Imac (15" flat panel, combo-drive, OSX 10.2.0), the printer I have (Epson stylus color 740) is sometimes a bit funky: won't print, have to go to "Print Center" and delete job, try again and hope it works).
Plus the ink cartridges are 30 bucks each (color and black).
I'm thinking of buying a cheapie printer, an HP Deskjet 3420 (at 39.99!!!), with cartridges costing 19 and 22 bucks each.
Anyone have experience with the HP3420 and OSX 10.2.0.
How is the printing?? I want it to print photographs up to 8x10 as well as regular text.

I use a Canon S820 (discontinued now but still available for around $60) - six color printer, fast for text, drivers available for OSX, and replacement cartridges are less than six bucks. Advantage over the HP printers is the separate color tanks, you only replace the one that's low instead of the entire cartridge. In the long run, all inkjets are expensive to print with, and now they are almost commodities - cheaper to replace the printer than the ink. So I have a networked LaserWriter for text and I share the Canon for printing color things.
