I'm just getting into digital video with our older iMac and some used peripherals, and I'm having some problems. I'm hoping some of you on this list have already done what I'm trying to do and can give me some tips.
Our iMac is one of the original bondi tray loaders, and we have 196 meg o ram, since this device and this program were used on pre-G3 machines, I'm not really worried that we don't have enough juice to run this. Keep in mind I'm only using 8.6... We have an irez CapSure USB, and are trying to use ReelEyes 1.2 (full version) that came on the install disk for the CapSure device. Everytime I try to select an audio source in ReelEyes, I crash hard. I have tried increasing the memory available to ReelEyes, up to 100 meg, and it made no difference. I tried changing the order in which extensions load, that actually stopped me being able to open a video window at all. So finally I tried trashing preferences. That gave me a black video window, or no sound at all. The pdf menual that came with the program isn't helpful. It references other video capture cards, and seems to be talking to a people who have older, less enabled systems than mine. Found out accidentally that it will condense a capture down to mpeg-1 and open Toast 5 to burn me a vcd with one button click. Pretty niffy, so I really hope I can get the audio to work. Thinking that I may have to go to another capture program, like BTC. Heard that an early version of iMovie works under 8.6, but have no idea where one might find a download of that. Thanks for any input, any clue... BTW, about the Beatles lawsuit...when I was a kid I thought the Beatles owned Apple computer. Made sense to me. It was a real shock the day I found out that wasn't true. One of my younger girlfriends thought one of her neighbors was gay when she noticed an older rainbow apple sticker on his car. (This was years ago before Mac became hip again.) Funny how names and symbols pick up new meanings as time passes. -- The iMac List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
