As a photographer and lover of projected slides, I have to agree that there is no comparison in the digital realm. Add to that the extra labor involved in digitizing and/or producing an electronic "slide show", and you're talking a major step. And when was the last time you projector crashed during a slide show? Yes, you do get the occasional jambed slides, but it's alot less frequent than glitches in electronic presentations.
I wouldn't worry overly about the availability of slide projectors. Even if Kodak stops manufacturing them, used Ektagraphics will be available for years to come and as someone else pointed out, there are other manufacturers.
