Thanks for the tips. The one that worked was to boot from OS 9.2, then go to Users, (myfile), then Desktop and drag the offending files to the Trash. That worked perfectly.
The files in question were Internet Explorer files that had been damaged but were still controlled by IE, which prevented them from actually being put in the Trash. So BatCHMod's "Force Empty Trash" and OnyX's similar program didn't work. Also, Get Info on these files showed ownership already set to "Me," but I did not find a permission equivalent to "all". I tried various guesses, such as "admin," etc., but none worked. Regardless, thanks for the tip. I'm an OSX newbie and hadn't thought to reboot from OS9. -- Jim From: "Charles Martin" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > - If your machine can boot into OS 9, do so and delete the files from > there. > - An easy way to remove troubling files like this is to download > BatCHMod, and use the "Force Empty Trash" command in the file menu. > - If you do a "get info" on the files, you'll see an "Ownership and > Permissions" option.
