I'd read somewhere that you didn't need a crossover cable if ONE of the Macs had autosensing, but according to the article you sent, that isn't exactly true.
Actually, the article states, "Note: MDI devices connected to Auto-MDIX devices do not require a crossover Ethernet cable." This means to me that a Mac without autosensing connected to one with autosensing will not need a crossover cable. I don't have experience in the field with this so I'm not sure if it will always work this way.
