When I switch between users with fast user switching enabled in Panther
, I don't see the rotating cube. Is that because I'm using a G3 iMac, or did
I forget to do something?


No, it's because your iMac doesn't support Quartz Extreme. The "rotating cube" effect apparently needs it.

(funny how Keynote's "rotating cube" effect doesn't though!)
