Thanks for updating us about that! I know I speak for the "gang" when I say we are pleased on your behalf that things appear to have worked out well.
May I respectfully suggest that you use a little of the hundreds of dollars you saved here and buy a Firewire external hard drive for backup purposes (assuming your machine has Firewire)?
With an older machine, it's really important to make frequent, reliable backups, and I have found that the combination of Carbon Copy Cloner's Schedule and Synchronise functions plus an external HD is pretty hard to beat. The key is to make it easy to do, and CCC does exactly that. Plus it's donationware!
