Not the answer that you want to hear, but you usually need a computer with
two Ethernet ports to make a good firewall/router.  One connected to your
ADSL "modem" and one connected to your LAN.  I don't know if there is such a
thing as a Mac compatible USB to Ethernet adapter (or FireWire to Ethernet)
but that's what you'd need to get two Ethernet ports.

Easiest and maybe cheapest way to share a connection is pick up a 4-port
router/firewall/switch ($30 or less new, I've seen them go for $10 on eBay)
and use that as your firewall and internet sharing device.  This is better
because:

1. Don't need to leave the iMac on all the time
2. Don't need to listen to the iMac's fan/hard drive all the time
3. Other computers won't lose their connection when the iMac crashes or
needs to be rebooted.
