can someone steer me to a page for sharing an adsl connection?
I am thinking of using a imac running a firewall to receive the connection, then share it via ethernet to my other Macs
You don't need a page. It's really very, very simple.
1. Set up a working ADSL connection on your computer.
2. Buy a ROUTER. Not a switch, not a hub -- a ROUTER. Preferably one with a built-in firewall from a company like D-Link or some such
3. Unplug the ethernet cord that goes from your ADSL modem to your computer. Plug that wire into the router's WAN port.
4. Plug your computer and the others into the other ethernet ports on the router. You may need to reset the machines, though in most cases that's not necessary.
5. Open your Network system pref, change to DHCP, click apply, wait a few seconds, and you're on.
