It usually replies instantly. I just now tried sending a blank message to "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" to subscribe myself to the "Linux and BSD on Macs" list, and got a "confirmation request" reply instantly. I replied to the reply and again instantly got a reply saying that I was on the list.
