As most of you already know I'm looking into get an external FireWire hard drive for use as a backup drive with my FP iMac. In my research I've noticed that some are combo drives that can connect to USB as well as FireWire. Since, my Bondi Blue iMac only has OS 8.6 and USB 1.1, I was wondering if one of these drives would be usable with it. Would it be bootable? Any limitations on size? I know USB 1.1 will be slow (and I have no intention of upgrading the Bondi) but I'd still like to know if there would be any benefit to getting a USB/FireWire drive over the FireWire only drive.
