The problem with being on top of the hill is that sooner or later somebody is going to knock you off. Apple had their few 15 minutes of king of the hill and maybe will again sometime, but lets move on. The Anthlon is clearly faster, like it or not. Who cares? Next week a new flavor of the month will arrive and Anthlon will no longer be king of the hill. Apple will still be the better choice, Ghz king or not.
And that's the end of that. Apple has broken the sound barrier, we can all breath easy now, Apple will continue as long as "computers" are used and speed will not be an issue.. These computers are now so fast, so powerful and cheap, except for those writing movies, commercials and music they are just where they should be and the speed growth will keep growing exponentially. So...
The next big leap has to be the software, and Apple has always had the lead there, hands down and does pretty good with the home user and even small business projects today. However the heavy duty creative software needs to be easier. I can take the time and type it in like Scotty, ( you younger folk may need to ask your parents), but the computer should be the creator of what we dream and the software be intuitive to create our thoughts, so if we miss a line on page 846 that says add a slash, the whole project does not grind to a halt.
8 inch books to do page layouts and photo work, it seems more time is spent learning the software, when the software should be doing the work for us. We may not be there yet, but when that happens that will really be the dawn of a new age and will open doors unthought of..
When Steve and the boys hit it, just please, please, do not loan Bill a copy for the weekend. Please no matter what Bill says, leave Bill with a DOS book with pictures to read, heck he said we never needed more then 512K according to the monopoly monster of the world.
Beam me up
