Hi, re the strange noise I was reporting with my brand new iMac, there's a discussion page on Apple support pages discussing the mysterious issue. Do a search on the flat-panel iMac pages for 'strange noise' and you'll find it. I tried inserting the link in this message but the maclaunch server bounced the message (probably it looks like spam to it).

Needless to say, I'm getting more and more frustrated here. The strange noise issue is declared 'not serious' but 'abnormal' by Apple. Wonderful.

Sounds like a hard disk resetting the heads or something. Very disappointing, the iMac G4 hasn't succumbed to the dreaded Apple consumer computer virus yet... until now?

Suffice to say mine doesn't do that, but it's only an 800MHz with a 5400rpm hard disk and combo drive.
