I would suggest adding RAM.
My eMac shipped with 128MB RAM. Within one month I trashed the 128MB dimm and added two 512MB dimms. Performance increase was noticeable.

I have a 1 GHz eMac with 256 Meg of memory and Panther. When it is started up, everything runs speedy and with no problem.

If it sits for a while and has the screen saver on or goes into sleep mode, EVERYTHING takes forever (and I mean at least 2 minutes for each mouse click) to load and all I see is that %#$#^%# pinwheel > spinning.

I usually have to force quit everything and power down, and then everything is hunky-dory...

Any suggestions? I already turned off the sleep mode, and I am considering turning off screen saver also. Anybody know what causes this?
