The shop owner did not put either of my two
(supposedly) 256MB sticks in another machine as
you suggest; but in order to determine if my iMac
was capable of reading a 256MB stick, he *did*
install another 256MB stick of his own into the
upper slot.

My iMac read all the memory in his stick.

The RAM I had bought from the Chip Merchant is IBM
and has "256MB Q8 PC100-222-620" printed on a
small sticker stuck to each. It must have been mislabeled.

Soooo, anyone know the disposition of the Chip
Merchant and its change of ownership at this time?
