I'm thinking that maybe Pepsi did do a redesign and that might explain
the delay for some areas.

The other day while getting my lunch at the deli, I sat going thru their
fridge reading the caps down the neck of the bottle until I found a
winner (I was the only customer in the store, and the guy was in the back
heating my food). It took me about 5 bottles to locate one, and I was
able to read them very easily (I drink Mist, so the clear soda helps)

Two days later, I went back, found they had a new shipment in, and tried
again to read the caps... this time I wasn't able to. I tried every
possible angle to read the cap, even with the bottle empty, I still
wasn't able to read it from the outside.

Now its possible I got lucky the first time and hit just the right angle
to read it, or maybe I was just unlucky the second time. But it struck me
that my first attempt I was able to see multiple caps with ease, and on
my 2nd, no matter what I did, I just couldn't read the cap. So the
thought occured to me that Pepsi may have caught on, and redesigned the
bottle by lengthing the neck or cap just slightly.

Certainly a redesign would explain the delays. If they found out about
the trick right after the first wave was filled/shipped, they could very
well have delayed the next wave while a new bottle was designed.
