The reports of speed-bumped eMacs I've seen have been on US websites, so UK listers may not have noticed that the entry-level combo model is now 100 cheaper here, at 549, while the superdrive model is down 250 to 699. Still significantly dearer than in the US (comme toujours), but this change in the entry-level price belatedly reflects the state of the dollar: two days ago the combo eMac cost the equivalent of $1150 in the UK. I presume other European markets are seeing similar price cuts.
NB: at time of writing the UK Apple Store hasn't been updated - it still shows the old prices and the old specs - but the front page at www.apple.com/uk gives the new details. I'm well chuffed: the other week I was about to spend 700 on a combo eMac (including 50 to bring the RAM up to a basic 256MB), but some big bills came in and I decided to wait another month. Now I can spend the same money on a superdrive model, or save enough on the combo to buy an external hard drive. Yippee! Miche. -- I love deadlines. I love the whooshing noise they make as they go by. (Douglas Adams) -- The iMac List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
